Gavin's Baptisim

We were finally able to celebrate an accomplishment once more. Gavin was Baptized this past Sunday. We had so many family and friends attend. The party started on friday with my sister's family and Josh's Dad and Mom coming in. We went and ate at Cafe Adobe. (His parents favorite place.) Then my parents joined us late friday night. On Saturday came the rest of the party. My brother Allen had a more difficult time coming but with the grace of prayer made it finally around 3pm. (lots of flight delays due to weather) My dad's 50th birthday is April 27th but since this was the only time we were all going to be together we celebrated his 50th with a surprise barbeque party. He was very surprised! And since we were already having cake the next day for Gaivin's Baptisim I made him a Chocolate Oatmeal Cookie Cake. (His favorite cookies.) We had to get creative!

Then came Sunday, The Big Day!! Gavin's Special Day! I grew up Lutheran and grew up Baptizing your children as infant's, which my parents said is usually done at aound 2 weeks. But since I have been freaked out about germs, I did not want him Baptized until about 2 months. Well at the church we attend, The Woodlands UMC, they were having a Baptisim Service just for Baptisim's. They had one in Feb, but I did think we could get everyone together so quickly. (I called the church on Feb 8th) So April 19th then became the BIG DAY!! Gavin may not know how much he is loved by his family but when 30 people attend for his Baptisim he can count the heads and know that is just a portion of them. We celebrated with Brisket, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, and Deviled Eggs. Yummy!!! And some cake and ice cream. To keep the kids entertained Gavin's Uncle Jared, Aunt Becky, and Cousin Drew brought their jr bounce house. IT WAS AWESOME to have all our family and friends here. We even filled the Hornback Inn! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR COMING AND PRAYING FOR GAVIN!

Gavin's First Food!

Since Gavin got Oatmeal, bowls, and spoons in his Easter Basket and he is now 4 months old we decided that we would let him taste his Easter Treats! He is still not sure what to think of the oatmeal. We have decided to give him cereal every now and then because right now it is only for practice and not nutritional needs. What a mess! A bath was a must when he was done.







If you are noticing the different bibs, it is because we had to do a second take the next day since Josh recorded the first video sideways.

4 months old

I can't believe Gavin turned 4 months a week and a half ago. He is growing so fast. It is so amazing to watch him learn new things. We went to see the pedi on April 1 for his 4 month shots. I won't lie, I am very nervous about him getting all those shots at once after hearing parents talk about how their child became Austistic after recieving them. See when Gavin and I go to physicial therapy ever week we run into the same families. I finally decided to ask why their children where there and a few moms said because their child had Autisim or some form of it. It becomes much more realistic when you see it every week. After discussing this with Gavin's pedi we went ahead and opted to give the shots all at once. That means 3 shots in his legs and an oral med. Gavin did well except this time he ran a low grade temp for almost 24 hrs. The new studies are showing that the immunizations DO NOT cause or contribute to Autisim. I just hope they are right and do not come back in a year and say they might. All we can do is place my worries in God's hands for he knows the truth and plan for Gavin. We also talked to the pedi about starting cereal. She suggested Rice but because of Gavin's previous back up issues with the rice starch formula we opted to go with Oatmeal or Barley. Other then that Gavin is doing well.

Gavin's favorite things to do at this time are to eat, drool, spit up, and chew on his or anyone elses fingers. For the last month he has been drooling tons so I would not be surprised if he gets teeth sooner then later. There are 3 toys that are sure to get him smiling when he is fussy. They are the big headed cow that vibrates, the musical toy that lights up, and occasionally his links that are easy to put in the mouth. We have just started placing him in his stationary activity jumper. He has not figured out the jumping part yet. Gavin's not so favorite things at this point are naps. He HATES to take naps. I can sometimes get him to take 30 min to an hour naps, but those are becoming far from. However he is sleeping though the night from about 9:30 to 7am, so can't complain too much.
