6 month Pictures

Gavin had his 6 month pictures yesterday. He did ok. He didn't feel like smiling much. Most of the time when we got him to smile his eyes were closed. Oh well there are still some cute ones. He also had his first haircut. Well actually just a bang cut. He did well sitting in the chair. He kept trying to grab the comb and scissors to put in his mouth.

The Helmet

So for thous of you who have not heard, Gavin will be getting a helmet. The helmet is to help reshape his head so that the flat spot will round out. His flat spot was due to his Torticallis (stiff neck muscle) because he always would sleep on that one side. There was nothing I could do to get him to sleep on the other side. Oh well. Anyways we had his plastering done for the mold to make his helmet. Each helmet is made specifically for that child. Insurance his helping pay for it. Who would think such a minor thing could be so expensive. Thank God for insurances. He should have the final helmet here in the next week. Gavin had the plastering done a week and half ago. He screamed during the whole thing. He is so strong. It was hard emotionally and physically to hold him down. The only thing that made him happy was his bottle. When the doctor was done he had such crazy hair. It was funny and Gavin is no worse for ware.

We Have a Tooth!

Gavin's first tooth has finally popped through. It seems his months of drooling and teething have paid off. In fact it looks like the 2nd tooth will probably pop through in the next week or so. Oh and look how he keeps fighting with his face. It seems that even though I think I file his nails well he always wakes up with a new scratch. Oh well boys are supposed to look rough and tough.

TROUBLE

So who says you have to actually crawl before you can get into trouble! Gavin is showing this well. He can not crawl but he can scoot, EVERYWHERE!

Gavin Scooting

He is beginning to do the army crawl. When he is determined then he will get where he wants to go. It's so fun to see his mind at work.

HAPPY 1/2 YEAR BIRTHDAY GAVIN!!!

Wow, I can't believe half of Gavin's first year of life has gone by. When people tell you to treasure every moment because they grow up fast, it is an understatement. It makes me sad to think my baby is 6 months and a little man. He has changed so much. He is now able to scoot, roll, turn in circles, and sit unsupported. He continues to babble. Josh and I have been working on his sign language since he was 3 months. We sometimes think he understands milk but is still unable to sign anything himself. The books say they may not do their first sign until closer to 8 months. We have hopes that Gavin will meet this goal. Gavin has started taking better naps due to Josh and I following a method called Ferberizing. It is where you allow to cry themselves to sleep but go comfort them every 5-15 min. It allows them to sooth themselves to sleep yet not feel abandoned. I think it is to really allow the parents to feel like they are not abandoning them. It seems to work most of the time. He still has moments where he wants to be cuddled. Even with how sad it is that he is growing up so fast it is so fun. He has such a personality. He is learning new things everyday. His favorite entertainer is Tater. He just laughs and laughs. I love him so much and can't wait to see what the next 6 months hold.

Gavin's Stats
Weight 16lbs 8oz (75%)
Length 28 in (greater than 95%)
Head Circumference 17 in (25-50%)

He has actually lost weight since last month. He was 17lbs last month. The pedi does not seemed worried but is having me do weekly weights for 3 weeks. So far this week he has already gained 3oz.

"Happy Birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy Birthday dear Gavin. Happy Birthday to you!" Gavin really wanted to get his hands on the candle. We had to use one candle since there are no half candles. He really enjoyed his birthday bananas.

Summer Fun

This weekend Josh and I took the time to catch up on house chores. I hadn't dusted in forever and the floors are gross! Since Gavin is now able to roll and scoot his way to anything he wants I need to get better at cleaning the floors everyday. We also took Gavin to the Splash Pad. It is like a big sprinkler for toddlers and kids. He did great and kept trying to grab the water. It was cute.

He was so tuckered out! He had his butt completely in the air until I took this picture. He had moved right before I made it to his room.

Catch Up

Ok I know it has been a month since posting, but life has been going by fast. It just got by me. So I am going to post several postings at one time. And since I like things to be in order I will post them the day they were supposed to have been. I hope you all enjoy. Remember to look back from today for new post.
