Our 5th Anniversary 5-29-09

Wow I can't believe Josh and I are celebrating our 5th Anniversary. When we were flying home from our Honeymoon from St. Lucia we had the idea of returning here for our 5 yr Anniversary. (This was a compromise from my idea of returning at 2 yrs) Well lets just say that we are going to have to postpone or rethink that idea. We instead celebrated by going to lake on the jet ski and going to a nice dinner at America's. Cappy (my dad) came down from Dallas Saturday Morning and babysat Gavin while Josh and I could enjoy the day. We went to the lake for 4 hours and had such a great time. It was nice to get to Wakeboard again since last summer I was pregnant and wakeboarding was frowned upon while pregnant. We then came home, showered, and got dressed for dinner at America's. The food was delicious! I especially loved the fried plantain chips that they gave as an appetizer. When we got home it was fun getting to talk with my dad. He said that Gavin and him had a great time. Thanks Dad!!!

Josh and I in St. Lucia. I think we look young.

Us Now. I think we look a little older. (Maybe its because we are a little more tired?)

More Pictures

HE CAN SIT!! If he starts to get distracted though he tends to fall over. Look at that sweet smile.

My Babies! Tater still has not gotten used to sharing the attention but I'm sure as soon as Gavin is able to play with him, Tater will love it.

Whatcha doin?

With all the toys this boy has he perfers the mat the best to chew on.

Twinkies! Go Rangers!!

Gavin loves to swing and be outdoors. He loves to just people watch. He especially loves the girls. I think we will need to keep a close eye on this ladies man.

This is the cutest video. Josh was just doing the dishes and Gavin was having a grand old time with his Bumbo Tray.

Pictures Galore

Gavin has been real into his toes lately. He found them a month or so ago, but was not limber enough to get them into the mouth. After some stretching he is now able to get them into his mouth and therefore is much more interested in them.

Thanks to Mr. Clint for the Aggie Shirt. I can't believe he will grow out of it soon. We just got it out and thought it looked kind of big and that it would be awhile before he would grow out of it. Well Josh got him dressed one morning and sure enough it fits him perfect. So there goes the idea of it being too big. Gavin is practicing his Gig'em Sign. He still has some perfecting to do.

When we were in Dallas the weekend of May 15th we stayed at my parents house. Chelley was there and wanted to help give Gavin a bath. She is such a big helper. Thanks Chelley!

Gavin was very intently listening to his cousin Chelley's advise about life and fun.

We thought it would be a good idea to get Gavin started early on his piano lessons. He is studying the notes very carefully.

FIRST SWIM!!

Today Gavin went over to his friend Jack's house to go swimming for the first time. He had such a blast. He just kicked and kicked. I even got brave and blew in his face then dunked him under the water. He cried, but he was ok. I wanted to try it again so he gets used to it but I don't want to scare him either. We will try again next time.

First Mother's Day!

Wow! I can't believe my first mother's day has come. It still seems surreal some days. Even though being a mom is hard and sometimes tiring, it is such rewarding also. I wouldn't change it for anything. The good and the bad. We went to Dallas to celebrate. Everyone was so happy to see Gavin and how big he has gotten in the last 3 weeks. It was sad to leave on Sunday but we had a good time. We went to dinner on Saturday to Pappadeaux's. It was delicious!!!! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Gavin's Baptisim

We were finally able to celebrate an accomplishment once more. Gavin was Baptized this past Sunday. We had so many family and friends attend. The party started on friday with my sister's family and Josh's Dad and Mom coming in. We went and ate at Cafe Adobe. (His parents favorite place.) Then my parents joined us late friday night. On Saturday came the rest of the party. My brother Allen had a more difficult time coming but with the grace of prayer made it finally around 3pm. (lots of flight delays due to weather) My dad's 50th birthday is April 27th but since this was the only time we were all going to be together we celebrated his 50th with a surprise barbeque party. He was very surprised! And since we were already having cake the next day for Gaivin's Baptisim I made him a Chocolate Oatmeal Cookie Cake. (His favorite cookies.) We had to get creative!

Then came Sunday, The Big Day!! Gavin's Special Day! I grew up Lutheran and grew up Baptizing your children as infant's, which my parents said is usually done at aound 2 weeks. But since I have been freaked out about germs, I did not want him Baptized until about 2 months. Well at the church we attend, The Woodlands UMC, they were having a Baptisim Service just for Baptisim's. They had one in Feb, but I did think we could get everyone together so quickly. (I called the church on Feb 8th) So April 19th then became the BIG DAY!! Gavin may not know how much he is loved by his family but when 30 people attend for his Baptisim he can count the heads and know that is just a portion of them. We celebrated with Brisket, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, and Deviled Eggs. Yummy!!! And some cake and ice cream. To keep the kids entertained Gavin's Uncle Jared, Aunt Becky, and Cousin Drew brought their jr bounce house. IT WAS AWESOME to have all our family and friends here. We even filled the Hornback Inn! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR COMING AND PRAYING FOR GAVIN!

Gavin's First Food!

Since Gavin got Oatmeal, bowls, and spoons in his Easter Basket and he is now 4 months old we decided that we would let him taste his Easter Treats! He is still not sure what to think of the oatmeal. We have decided to give him cereal every now and then because right now it is only for practice and not nutritional needs. What a mess! A bath was a must when he was done.

If you are noticing the different bibs, it is because we had to do a second take the next day since Josh recorded the first video sideways.
