Happy Halloween!!! 19 days late

So we have been VERY busy and blogging has not been on the top of my list so yes my blogs are LATE!
Oh well here is a synapse of our Halloween.

I would have to say Gavin LOVED it! He LOVED getting candy, AND he LOVED ringing the doorbell. The poor people would be out handing out the candy and he would ring the doorbell several more times and more than twice he tried to enter into their home. (Which was fine when we are our families houses, but strangers, REALLY?) Before we went Trick Or Treating we went TRUNK or Treating at our cousin Krystal and Tim's Church. He liked getting the candy but every time he would get a piece he wanted to open and eat one bite then get more of another. I am all for Gavin getting to eat candy on Halloween but not for having multiple open pieces in the bag. Therefore what does he do when he doesn't get what he wants?, he lays/sits on the ground and throws a fit. You would think he'd learn that this DOES NOT WORK! I do not give in, so next he goes back to some of the candy bowls and starts taking more candy. Ahhhhh! He is too smart sometimes. Oh and a few days before Halloween we went to play with his friends for a Halloween Party. It was fun!

Now for picture overload!

The TERRIBLE Twos!

This was actually several weeks ago, but just had to share.

Gavin has shown his stubborn side for about um 22 months now. :) But is has gotten worse. Here are a few examples:

The other day after I picked up Gavin from school, we ran to the mall to look for a very specific present for a friend. (Who knew that a Texas A&M Beanie cap for newborns would be sooo hard to find.) Anyways I didn't have my stroller in my car, due to a recent emptying out for a football game, so I let Gavin walk. He did pretty good at first then he just started trying to grab anything he could find, and he would run off, turn around and look to see if I was going to get him. So after the um, lets say 5th time, I told him he had to hold my hand. This is where is 2's kick in. He would sit, then lay on the ground screaming because I wouldn't let him go. Ahhhh! I am now that mom who has the laying down crazy child and all I want to do is hide. However I don't because I am me and I am just as stubborn as him, so I let go and tell him bye and walk away. I got pretty far before he decided that being too far from mommy can be kind of scary and came screaming running up to me. This however didn't stop him from trying again. So after looking at one more store we got the heck out of dodge and went home.

I know this is not the end, but lets hope it isn't an everyday ordeal AND you can bet from now on we will always have the stroller so he can at least be belted down.

Mismatched Clothes and Underwear

On Wednesday Gavin and I went to a Wacky Wednesday Play date and had fun. I personally think we had the most Wacky outfit but I'm sure the other mom's are saying the same thing.

Gavin has had such an interest in potty training that even though he was only 18-19 months we decided to go with it. We do not push him by any means, since he's only almost 2 and the average age for boys is 3, but we do ask and encourage him to try. The one way you can almost always guarantee a sure success of a tee tee time is to take him outside. He just LOVES to pee outside. Such a boy! :) He will typically go tee tee any time you take him. Poo Poo however is a little different. He likes to say he will go but fights on actually sitting on the potty. (Yes that means he tee tee's standing up). I've gotten him on a few times to sit and try and have had some success, like I think 3 times total. I won't lie, it would be REALLY nice to have him potty trained at 2 but I also don't want to push him into not wanting to be. So we will take it one day at a time. When Josh and I talk about potty training we both were wanting to try the old style cotton training pants. So for first show, here is Gavin in his Big Boy Undies.

We were them at home on occasion, never out in public yet. We are the bribing type of parents so YES we are bribing with candy when he succeeds and stickers when he tries. I have also been know to tell him that when he's potty and trained and no longer wears diapers he can go pick out a special toy. So YES I will do whatever it takes to get him out of diapers and into big boy diapers permanently.

Time Flys When Your Having Fun

Sorry no post in what 2 months. Wow!
We have been having tons of fun with our new friends from our Mom's Group Tiny Tots. I try and take Gavin to atleast 2 things a week and even more before his MDO started in September. For awhile he was the old man of the group but now he has a few more buds/gals that are close. most are still a couple months younger. One of the many things I'm still learning as a first time mom is that as they get older a few months age difference is no biggie and soon they will all be on level ground. Here are a few pics.

Gavin also has started MDO as of Sept. 9th. He goes 2 days a week Tues/Thur from 9a to 2p. For the first 2-3 days Gavin was grouped into the non-sleepers. Now that it's the 3rd week he sleeps. For how long we don't know. (I think the teachers like to keep it a secret.) They are able to accomplish this task by he is sectioned off with a mini-wall from the others. He loves going and carrying his own backpack.

We have also been building a house in McKinney, Tx. We signed papers in the beginning of July and are supposed to close beginning of November. We are sooo excited and feel soooo blessed that we are able to build again. We have had a few bumps along the way but all is beginning to fall into place. I can't THANK GOD enough for this blessing. If it wasn't for him this would not be happening.

All Sticks!

Getting Closer! :)

We also got a visit from Allen and Mandy the soon-to-be newly weds. Since they live soooo far away, It's been fun spending time with Mandy and getting to know her better.
Chelley also had Bed Time Story for the nights entertainment.
We have also found a church we LOVE and a group of friends we can't wait to get to know better.  I know most small/study groups happen in a circle with a Bible but the only pictures I have are of our FUN get to know you times. :) One family lives in our soon-to-be neighborhood and have the exact same floor plan we have, so it's been fun seeing what potential our home can have. Gieneva has done a great job in the 7 months they have lived in theirs, so I have to keep up, right? :)

So many Christian Friends for Gavin. Yea!!!

"MINE" or so he thinks.

So I guess that sums up our summer with a few pictures missing here and there. We are having a blast being up in Dallas and are just anxiously patiently waiting. :) We are hoping to have some new family photos in November by a REAL photographer that takes you to a location, not a studio. This is a first for the Thomson side of the family to think about. (No, it will just be Josh, Gavin, Tater, and Me. Not the extended fam.)

MAN IT'S HOT!

Or atleast that's what Gavin's GREAT Grampa Thomson and GREAT Gramdma Joan were thinking while visiting our GREAT state.  (And I mean GREAT as in AWESOME along with generation counting.) :)

It was fun having them around and letting Gavin get to know his GREAT Grandparents! We visited and ate all week and weekend.

Thanks for coming to visit! Hope you were able to cool off once you got home.

New Things We've Been Up To

We upgraded Gavin to a Toddler Bed. He has done VERY well. In fact, when he wakes up in the morning or after a nap he stays and waits for you to come and get him. I read that you should wait as long as you can or when  they try and climb out. Well he NEVER tried to climb out, and when the house is done we hope to get him a twin bed so we needed to progress. He loves LOVES his Big boy Bed.

He also has been sooo interested in when we go potty that we got him his own. He sits on it everyday atleast once a day, if not multiple times, while other times he sits on the big potty or stands at the big potty. Nothing happens but we've decided this is a good habit to continue in hopes we can potty train at 2.

And why stop with just Potty Training. We've decided he should be helping around the house more. So we got him his own Vacuum.
                                                                                   And He Loves it!

I LOVE these PJ's. Just look at his feet. Too Cute!
