The Hornbacks: It's No Destin, But....

We went on a family vacation with my family this year. I was REALLY wanting to go back to Destin, but because of time and cost we opted for a closer beach vacation to Galveston, Texas.

Josh and I lived only 2 hours from it for about 4 years and only made it down once for a wedding. Sad I know, but since the only beaches I had previously vacationed at were in the Caribbean, where the water is clear and the sands are nearly white, so going to the "dirty" sands and green water was not my idea of a vacation.

But like I sad due to time and COST we opted Galveston over no vacation at all. After Josh and I had decided to Galveston is where we would go, Becky and Dave along with Mom, Dad, and Brazos decided they wanted to go too. After searching multiple sites we found a house in Sunny Beach Community. It had 4 bedrooms and 2 baths and best part was located Beach FRONT.

We drove down on Monday and stayed until Sunday. A nice week of relaxing and fun. This was Lucy's 1st vacation and coincidentally it was to a beach just like Gavin's. We basically played on the beach for the most part. The guys took a bay fishing trip 2 different half days. We also went crabbing. (which we found out later that you have to have a fishing license, luckily we were never stopped.)

The kids did well traveling. Gavin LOVED sleeping in the same room with all the "big" kids. My parents were nice enough to watch all the kids one night so that us siblings and significant others (minus Allen and Mandy whom could not make it.) could have an evening out. THANK YOU CAPPY & NANA!

I know this was not my ideal beach location, but it was with the ideal people. My Dad keeps saying it was his favorite, but I think because it was low key and he could bring his boat.
